Isn't the GT better than the GTS?

I was told by a friend to buy a GT, and not a GTS.

Should I be down with that?

Thanks, guys.

There have also been accounts of less "lags" (frame rate drops & minimum frames) when playing games, probably due to the superior 768MB of 384-bit memory. They aren't as good at low res & no AA/AF, however. But the overall difference is minimal. Since they're getting much more scarce, if you can find one in the low-$300 range you're lucky. So the 8800GTX price-to-performance ratio ATM is rather poor, and not really worth it for most.
I'd agree with this. I once had a 8800GTS 512MB which I eventually used to stepup to an 8800GTX. While I wouldn't say that the 8800GTX is faster, I can say that gameplay in most games is smoother and less laggy with the 8800GTX. This is specially true when playing with AA/AF turned up.

Depends on which GTS he was referring to. There are 3 on the market: 320MB, 640MB, 512MB. The 320 and 640 are the old G80 core while the 512 is the G92 core. The 8800GT will beat the G80 core versions but the 8800GTS 512MB is definitely faster.
