Does the quality of the motherboard really matter?

Thread Starter
Hey,

I started overclocking computers about 1.5 years ago. The last motherboard I had was an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard. I think i had an AMD X2 CPU. Well, it was a 2Ghz CPU and I OCed it up to 2.6ghz. I was very cautious with the Vcore. The temps were fine also.

That overclocked system lasted for about 6 months then it would start randomly rebooting throughout the day...

Now fast forward to now: I have a really good motherboard(ASUS Striker Extreme) and a Core 2 Duo: STOCK @ 2.13Ghz OCed @ 2.6Ghz.

The Vcore is 1.35. Will my overclock be completely stable and worry-free for the next few years? Im just kind of worried that I'll damage my system within a week.

Thanks for your feedback!

The Striker should be really good for long term overclocking/volting as it has solid caps that should last much longer and good vrm heatsinks. Just keep the inside of the case nice and cool with a good flow of air across the mobo. If your concerned then you could Even use a spotcooling fan directed onto the area around the CPU to keep temps down and componants happy.
