Possible to recover NTFS encrypted files?

Thread Starter
Is there a way I can decrypt or view encrypted NTFS files with a Linux Live CD? Well, is there any way I can recover NTFS encrypted files? This is what happened: I encrypted some files and then I moved them to another hard drive, and then I reformatted and re-installed XP on that hard drive that I encrypted the files with, and now I don't have the certificates.

So I was wondering if there was a way to recover these encrypted files?

there is no way to decrypt them, unless you put the password in as ''dog'' or something and you just forgot.

But by the sounds of it you would be better off trying to recover the certificates. Try sending it to a data recovery firm.

You can still access the encrypted files, but decrypting them is another matter.
