Linux and Vista network?

hey guys, I'm thinking of turning an old pc into a linux machine. The thing I'm wondering is will it be able to be in the same network with vista or xp?

Windows File Sharing is done through a program called Samba on Linux, and if you set up your Samba work groups properly, yes, you should be in the same network as your Vista machine. Takes a bit of tweaking to get it integrated flawlessly, though, may need to consult the ultimate reference guide the universe.

Samba is not hard to configure. It will take you about 5 minutes.
