I'm not a intel guy but everything you have is pretty good you just need a after market cooler for your cpu.
Oh and fill in your system specs in the profile set up. Also welcome to OCN
post #4 of 11
Alwayz safe to OC, yours is good to go, but won't go to far without cpu aftermarket cooler, many choices <$30 shipped. Worth the $$ 10x over in OC results and longevity. Go slow in raising volts and fsb and set cpu fan control to manual and @ 100% before starting in bios. Crank it up dude!

you may be able to get to 3.0ghz on stock cooling, maybe. Hopefully you have a better e6700 than I did; mine only could get to 3.2ghz. for cooling there a quite a few choices ranging from $25 and up.

here are some settings you can try. Leave all the others as they are.

FSB CLOCK: 1200mhz(this is actually your quad pumped FSB speed)
Memory clock: 800mhz
PCI Express clock: 100mhz
CPU voltage: 1.35v
Memory voltage: 1.9v

This might get you up to 3ghz, if not you might have to apply some more voltage, but really have to watch your temps with a good program like CoreTemp.

It's really weird how they setup overclocking on this board.. Most boards you use the real FSB speed. Also this one is suppose to lock the memory at the specified timing, in this case 800mhz so its independent from the cpus FSB.

I personally don't have any real experience with this board so if anyone sees any problems with the settings I posted please feel free to correct me .

Here is where I got my info

I tried setting the fsb in the bios to 1200 Left ram at 800 and managed to get 3ghz stable

witch gained me another 1100 3DMark06 points with 1 - 2 diffrence in temps when under load 42' - 44' Celsius

I dont think ill go any higher with stock cooling, Ill wait till i get some aftermarkert cooling.

im pritty happy with that result for now.

Have i done it right ??

Hmm, I'm suprised by those temps being that low. Did you up the voltage at all? When you say it's stable, do you mean you stress tested it with prime95, orthos, etc...?

Also do you have CPUZ? If not you can download it from this link and post some screenshots of the different tabs . http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
