I'm new to overclocking, need to know some stuff.

Ok, I'm new to this whole overclocking thing.

I overclock my Pentium D 3ghz to 3375mhz, and upped my voltage from about 3.2 to 4.

I want to overclock it higher, but scared I might fry it. My tempriture stays at around 40-42 degrees celcius, so I figure it's fine.

My main question is, can I up my voltage and mhz fairly high, as long as my CPUstays cool? And what tempriture should I keep it under?

Although the numbers dont seem quite right to me 3.2 v vcore ?? to answer your question there is a point where straight voltage will damage the cpu before the heat actually plays a role. idk the specs of your chip but google search it to see the temp and voltage maximums, also fill in your system specs it will help everyone help you Welcome to OCN !

Can you upload a pic of your bios screen where you changed the voltages? or download cpuz and upload a screenshot of the cpu info showing the vcore?
What you got is too high to be vcore, should be more like 1.2 - 1.4? Is that a typo?

thats impossible....... 3.2v i think u put ur clk speed rather than ur vcore ....

but temps willing the P.D. will clk quite high

there is no such vcore as 3.2-4... it should be at 1.5 max. i think you got it wrong. try to check it back, it will help a lot. and pls provide the ff. (motherboard spec, ram, psu, etc) and it should be that you're not using stock cooler if you OC your processor

Hey guys, soz bout long wait. The BIOS was telling me that my current voltage was 3.2v, and then I upped it to 4v.

This tells a different story

Just bump your bus speed up 5ish and then boot, test(Prime95,etc...), repeat until you hit a temp max.

Your core voltage is set at 1.344. Where are you getting this 3.2-4V number your talking about? Make sure you be careful upping voltages, you might be upping the wrong one lol.
