Someone is selling a Western Digital Raptor 74Gb 10K for 75$ and I was thinking of using this for my OS (Vista Enterprise) and then having a 750gb Spinpoint for everything else

What do you guys think?

you would see a big improvement on load times

make sure its an newer raptor. the older ones (though they are still 10K RPM) are slower than most 7200RPM drives.

Awesome difference will be seen! I put a 10Gb partition and the rest of raptor for games and other programs. Use the 750Gb for storage only. Major change in how fast it'll be 4 u.

What do you guys think of the price?

How do you know if it is a 'newer' raptor as opposed to an older one?

The link he has given is to this model....'

Newer ones have 16mb caches I believe, whereas older ones have only 8mb of cache.

I never heard of this. Raptor is a raptor. Plug n chug baby! Price not bad, as long as it starts & isn't noisy (bad sign).
