It's a raptor so of course the price:storage is going to be horrendous. If you are comparing that price to the price of a new raptor then I would say that it is a good price.

You can tell the difference by the model number.

Old raptor: WD740GD
New raptor: WD740ADFD

the new raptors are called velociraptors.... apparently they are 35% faster than the older raptors according to WD

even the raptor x's are slower then some 7200 drives with sustained reads. random reads though would be a little quicker on the raptor.

This is how I have my computer set up. 150gb Raptor for OS, games, and benchmarks, and then a 500gb Samsung for Movies, pictures, some programs, etc.

however, the new 7200.11 drives can be faster than raptors in most areas, and have a much better gb/$ than a raptor.
