I've honestly never seen a need for cure time in AS5.

I've used it dozens, if not hundreds of times and temps on first use were no different than those after months.

I do force cure any thermal compounds I use, however. After attaching the heatsink, I heat it to 80-90C with a hair dryer or heat gun, then cool it to room temp. I normally repeat this process 3-5 times before using the hardware.

When temperatures are only off by 0.7c there are too many variables that could effect temperatures that much. They're basically the same

I love my MX-2. Instantly gave me up to 5c lower load temps than AS5 was giving me. Idle didn't change much.

Actually I used AS5 for my GPUs, it works fine as well.


EDIT: Also, somebody said that they heat up their HS to cure it. I'm pretty sure "curing" means having the paste settle into the microscopic crooks and spaces where there would otherwise be air. And to do that, the heatsink's vibration from a fan is what actually "cures" it I believe.

I dropped 1C using this over cured AS5, with zero cure time. Not saying I am sold but can't complain about 1 degree.
