And why ...
XP64 if you don't want dx10 or don't have a dx10 GPU, otherwise go vista

Definitely Vista x64, there is simply no comparison.

I used it before and after SP1, and I had some issues before, now I have zero issues.

I switched from XP, and have seen no reason to go back.

Give it a try for a week, and you will be hooked.

Why would you do that? Since SP1 Vista's performance has exceeded XP, driver troubles are gone, the OS is better in every way now.

Seriously the Creative drivers for eg the extreme gamer were bad.

I would sometimes restart my computer and i would lose the driver. I would then have to take the card out of the PCI slot and put it back in. Other times i had to reinstall the driver was a pain. This was on 64 bit vista. Im using the Prelude and the drivers work flawlessly no bugs whatsoever.
That's weird... the only problem i have is it doesn't always save Mic boost - but that's the on in the windows sound options...

I have had to reinstall the drivers once, but that was when my other 2gig of Ballistix decided they would die... and promptly broke everything by corrupting it.
