picked out my parts, now to setup my system

Thread Starter
This is the first time I've built a system so I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, I have a pretty good idea but better to ask to make sure I don't fry anything.

My parts have not arrived yet so I'm preparing all the software I need.

Is it worth it to try to flash the bios if it isn't the newest bios on the mobo, and the gpu i guess? I always thought it was best to leave it alone if it's working correctly.

The next thing I'm worriedd about is the initial start up. If I have something wrong with it and it heats up / too much voltage. Will it auto detect correct voltage to use for the initial start up? Do I need to monitor the temps for a while in the bios?

Should I ignore the drivers that come with the mobo and 8800 gts and just download the newest and use them to be sure I get the most up to date?

I will be using vista 64 and from what I've been reading it doesn't like 3+ gigs of ram until it is patched. Will getting the service pack fix this?

So far I have the following for testing/OC'ing my pc.
RivaTuner -GPU
ATITool - Test GPU overclock
Super_Pi - Quick stability test
3Dmark06 - graphic benchmark
core temp - show temps?
cpuz_145 - info on the cpu
gpuz0.2.1 - info on the gpu?
memtest86+-2.01 - test the ram for stability
p95v256 - stability testing

Anything else I should gather up?

Everest for temps/voltages monitoring. Now fire it up, dude.
