That is an idea, but for some people such as myself who only have a small budget for their pc's. Simply having 2 hard drives in raid with a partition would work fine too. I have 100Gb for Vista, 200Gb for Xp and 150Gb for Data. (I install all my games on Xp and only DX10 games that see a difference on Vista)

If I were to reformat my HD, will it be just like the speed when I first built my rig? I miss the first day performance

Also I dont get how you guys install 50 different games and 5000 mp3s on your HD and not see a slow down. Do you guys put all data on another HD and just keep your OS on a single HD? Any suggestions...
1. Make sure you have got only esential programs loading up at startup and no junk that you dont need.
2. Defrag your hardrive at least once a month
3. Make sure your rig is virus/spyware free

If you follow those 3 point you cant go far wrong... my rig is always running sweet because i look after and maintain it.

Aslo dont use AV/Security programs that are heavy on system resorces, NOD32 is the lightest on your system and its very good.

yes, a full re-installation will get you back to day 1 performance.

@excoracer: the MAJOR disadvantage of relying on a RAID array is that the moment you upgrade your motherboard to one that has a different southbridge, the RAID array will NOT be recognized, and you'll have to rebuilt it, which mean you'll loose all data. For that reason, I have OS/Applications/Games on my RAID0 Raptors, and my data on a single hard drive.
