Overclocking bottleneck? Experts only plz. - Page 2

Thread Starter
I've experienced thus far with this current board, even with all timing at stock. If i lower timings to say 4 4 4 18 or 4 4 4 12 instantly will no longer post. Real pain in the rear.

The memory has completed over 20 memtest passes.

3.5ghz on that cpu is good. its not your 'piece of crap asus' thats holding you back, its your cpu that just cant do more. My windsor cpu is stock at 2.8, I can get it to post at 3.4 but its not always stable, 3.3 is not bad but runs hot. 3.2 is the sweet spot for my cpu. Its only an overclock of 400mhz, which kinda saddens me because if you look at those brisbanes you see some people getting near 1ghz OCs on them. Its just the older 90nm tech and its not cut out for what you are trying to do. Go get a 4200+ and watch it go from 2.2 to 3.0!

Superk, my thoughts exactly. That is an excellent OC at 3.5Ghz.

Ryan, what priority is the Orthos blend test set to? The higher the priority the more system resources windows will use towards the stress test. In my experience errors will typically show up quicker.

Good luck

He may be at the CPU limit but I was commenting about the fact that he couldn't raise his FSB past 240 even with a lower CPU multi.I've seen many of these MB's with low FSB limits and poor OC'ing.
