[bit-tech] Nintendo apologises for Wii Fit - Page 2

I think its funny that people would get upset if a videogame told them they were fat or not. People... A mirror does the same thing, are you mad at the mirror?!

Meh, this is all to appease the uneducated person for thinking BMI is a good way to gauge health status. It's not--it's a quick-and-dirty way for doctors to gauge general health very quickly in their database of patient stats, but since it's just a ratio of weight to height (or vice versa?), then obviously you can't infer true physical fitness or health status from it. I wish people were more educated before getting their panties up in a bunch. This is what the Wii apology should have read as:

"We would like to apologize for people being stupid. Now go and buy better games..."

Unless the Wii tells you "One at a time, please!" after you step on the scale, you have no reason to feel insulted. And even then you can only feel insulted if you aren't fat.

People are far too fragile these days with their egos and self-esteem. The world would be a much better place without needless policial correctness crap.

wow, at least Nintendo's getting creative on weight loss for inactive children...what is it, obesity is the number one problem in America, smoking is the number 2, and cancer is the number 3...

I don't see any other active video games that set up a work out schedule for people...

You're not the only one. I had a picture of some little girl that started crying when "YOU'RE FAT!" came up on the screen in bolded and flashing letters. A little dramatic...but hey.

LOL can't help but laugh at that
the funny thing is that why would parents buy an exercise game for their athletic children?
tell them to go outside and play soccer or some ****.
i thought wii fit was geared more towards adults getting fit and not athletic children. so why would these people get upset? frickin idiots

stupid

Nintendo has admitted that the Body Mass Index system used to gauge obesity and fitness levels in Wii Fit may not be entirely accurate for younger players
Well, methink's they'll be disappointed.

This game, to be honest, is probably the worse on the Wii yet. its only intention is to cater for the type of self-obsessed people the media has created over the past few years. total bs imo. yes, it's a great business opportunity, but this is just too far. stick to Zelda and Mario please...stick with what i love!.

Wonder how long it'll be before we hear stories of people claiming the Wii turned em anorexic?... children getting on this broken game, told thier fat, and scarring them for life, there's something strangely amusing about that. if you feel your unfit, how about spending that cash on something more productive?....gym membership perhaps?.

Society really is a pain in the ass sometimes...

(to be clear, i'm not a fat person. in fact, i'm the complete opposite)

This is similar to another issue regarding weight and height being related to obesity. The only requirements that you must meet to be regarded as morbidly obese are that you exceed a specific weight, given a specific height. This means that incredibly massive bodybuilders are considered "morbidly obese", legally, because some weigh in at around 250 lbs at heights like 5'9"-5'10". I believe also that if you legally meet this requirement you're eligible for certain benefits.
