Hi,

yesterday I ran 3dmark06 with my 2 3870s enabled and I got a score of 8560. Today I decided to run it with just one card and It actually scored higher, 10050. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Probably a CPU bottleneck.

Meaning the CPU cannot give the information to the hards fast enough.

dont know much about crossfire but wat i can say is u should be getting higher than that
i get 11900 or so
using 1 card

Could be thermal throttling. Try opening up your case and place a household fan against it. Run the benchmarks again.

Not really.

I too had a weird score mismatch the other day but in my case it happened when going from a Q6600 to a Q6700.

The Q6600 @ 3.5 scored like 16000 or so and the Q6700 @ 3.8 only reported 14500.

What's really weird is that during the tests, the framerates for the Q6700, as reported on screen, are obviously faster than when I ran the Q66600, by about 5 to 10fps on average.

Go figure.

Guys! The CPU is running at 2.5Ghz....

Its that clock speed which is holding you back. The CPU itself I beleive is good enough but only if you overclock it beyond 3Ghz.

Even then you will still see a bottleneck.... Things start to move when you have SLI / CF at 3.4Ghz+

Hmmmmphh...

You think 2.5Ghz is getting that information to them cards fast enough?

It may also be worth bumping up the voltage on the NB and SB.

gotta be off, stock at 2.4GHz on my old Xeon 3060 and 1 3870 I saw about 9K I think, with the Q6600 at 3.6 I see almost 13K. From what I can tell you should be able to get above 15K EASILY with 2 x 3870's in SLI even with the bottleneck.

It's not normal at all. I get 10,600 with mine so you should be above that with 2.

I would try installing the VGA drivers again. I think you might have to install 1 card, install drivers, install the 2nd card, and install the drivers again for it to properly recognize both cards and set the drivers properly.

Yeah that must be it.. lolz.

What was your CPU score in 3Dmark?

My sig rig scored 16484 with a pair of 3870's and a 9850 Phenom @ 3.2 ghz.
Single card score is 12795 @ 2.990 ghz CPU.
CPU score was over 4400.

I'm running the 7.11 drivers...

Intel fan boys always have the answer...

Something is obviously wrong. What drivers are you using? Is Crossfire enabled in the Catalyst Control Panel?

I'm thinking it's a driver issue.

The 7.11 drivers work with Crossfire? I thought only 8.3 and up did.

we don't need fanboyism in here, we are trying to help someone out. Posting that Intel/Nvidia is better is just rude. I'd start with new drivers, making sure that crossfire is enabled, and then if it still hasn't done anything, or just a little, THEN start worrying about CPU bottlenecks.
