Weak PC's and needing support for antiquated programs are the only reason I can think of that any one would want to stay with XP.
I used to hate Vista before I tried it. I heard tons of horrer stories of it, but once I tried it and found out about the changes to it, I switched and never looked back.
I agree. thought I would have problems with vista myself but figured I have a free copy of ultimate so why not.
tried it and everything works fine except for some modded drivers give me some issues. otherwise it seems overall better then xp.

not quite the same. just killing support for the product doesn't mean you have to switch. how many cars are out there on the road anymoer that aren't supported anymore by their maker?

No thanks I'll pass.
driver issues aren't always the fault of the OS. if a programer can't make drivers for his own product that isthe fault of the programer not the OS. yes the OS is different and has to be programmed different that doesn't excuse those programmer guys from learning how to do it right to match the OS.
microsoft can't just go ok everyone who owns something prior to vista has to upgrade. xp is no longer functional and we will force you. all they can do is not support it which by all means they shouldn't have to after a certain time. how long has it been? 7 years or so? that's a better warranty them most any other product has on it. I would quit your complaining. if your copy works fine then use it. don't complain cause microsoft is forcing your hand. they are not. you guys even said yourself. works perfectly fine and does what you need
I understand this might be hard for some of the kids here on this site as many of you only grew up with xp but when end of life happens your product still works. you can still use it just fine.
hell some of us old timers around here have used other operating systems. once upon a time they had products like , NT4, windows 98, windows ME, windows 95, and even windows 3.1 and 3.11 for workgroups, and even older then that that had this big black box thing that had no real graphics for the OS. it was called dos. Not this dos thing that kids are used to now by typing CMD in start>run but I mean a real OS based upon that. it still works kids. all of them do. they just are not going to spend resources and money on a product that has lived a long life.
now it just comes down to what is more important to you.
a)the newest latest and blah blah that comes with support but cost some money
b)a product taht has lived a full live no longer gets support but already is working?
you pick make it silent and quit *****ing about it.
