Possible Future 360 Owner

Thread Starter
Hey all,

I'm thinking of getting a 360 in the semi-near future.

What kind of things should I keep in mind when making this decision?

I'll probably play it on my computer monitor (maybe), although I am also thinking of buying a new TV not too far down the road (probably 37-42" LCD).

What are the main differences between the different versions? Is it just the HDD size? Can I swap the HDD with something else I have, or are they not the same form factor as PC drives? Or could I use an external to compensate for the lower space of the basic version.

I'm most used to playing my PS2, so my first thought was a PS3, but it doesn't quite grab my interest. I think the broader selection of games I would be able to play if I get a 360 would be greater (are there any exceptional games for PS3 that don't come in a PS2, XBox 360, and/or PC version?).

Also, how much should I expect to pay for an XBox and important accessories? I wouldn't mind getting it used to save a fair amount of money, but if I'm not going to save too much, I'd prefer to buy new.

Thanks!

Here is a hell of a deal.

Just head over to metacritic.com or something and research the exclusives coming out for both systems. Can't go wrong with a 360.

Awesome, thanks

Hmm, if that offer is still around when I get paid in a couple weeks, I do believe I will jump on it.

The difference between the Elite and the Premium is not worth it. HDD size is the biggest difference, but you don't need more than 20 gigs. I have 20 gigs and I used at most 9 of it, and that's when I had no games and just downloaded demos.

Well if you buy new heres what you will want
xbox 360 pro - $350
1 extra controller - $50
1 yr xbox live - $50
if you dont wanna run a cable, then get a wireless adapter - $100
GoW - $60
GTA 4 - $60
Halo 3 - $60

those are all essential games for the 360 imo. so all thats gonna cost you $730+tax or $630 if you dont get a wireless adapter

or ps3 would be
40gb system - $400
1 extra controller $50
resistance - $60
uncharted - $60
cod4 - $60
so $630 for the ps3 bundle. it just depends on which games you want. i play both consoles a lot, each have their good exclusives.

Whatever you do, Do NOT buy a used 360 from gamestop. I have a very long story to tell and if anyone cares to hear it, I'll share it with you if you. But long story short, I was back in the store 5 times that day, and back two other times to return 2 broken xbox 360s. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I live an hour away from my "local" gamestop. When buying used games from gamestop, I've only had a problem once or twice. I actually ended up buying a new 360 from my local walmart (which is only 1 mile away), and haven't had any problems since I bought it in December. Although I might have to sell it this summer in order to solo on my 16th birthday. Yeah, Flying isn't cheap.

Hm.

Message me there if you care to hear the story.

Don't forget the cost for the charger for the Xbox 360 controllers.

Also if he wants HD cables for the PS3 that'll be some more money depending on whether he wants HDMI or Component.

Halo 3 doesnt cost 60 bucks new, my shop has it for 40 new and 34 used, I havent checked gamestop in a long ass time but i cant be that much cheaper then them

if your going for used these are the prices your looking at used (or atleast around here)

xbox 360 premium - $259
1 extra controller - $50 new
1 yr xbox live - $50 new
wireless adapter - $69 used
GoW - $50 new or $39 used
GTA 4 - $60 new or $50 used
Halo 3 - $34 used or $40 new

added up its quite a bit but nothing compared to the fun you will have with it (except i would change GTA4 to COD4 because i find the GTA series boring but thats personal preference)
