thanks for all your help everyone. im not doing my build for a few more weeks but i just want to be ready so i can have it up and running as soon as possible. my case is my biggest concern right now. are power supplies different sizes? and what is a mid size case defined as? because my case is about an inch or two wider than your average dvd drive, and only has 3 5.25 drive bays and 2 hard disk bays

OP, you'll be fine with a 9700 on a p35-ds3r, and ds3l. I have a few of these combos and they fit in a Coolermaster 330 and Antec NSK 4400. IF ever they dont fit, the 9700 is shorter "vertically" so you just flip it to vent up.

Thanks!

And yeah, but I can understand not understanding the concept of new england since they were so far away. Maybe its just something new englanders refer to themselves as and nobody else.

So I think im pretty sure the 9700 will fit. As long as it doesn't extend over the side of the ds3l and stand over 5 or 6 inches high ill be okay

You won't find a very large difference in real work application testing on the 9500 vs 9700, if you're stuck on the zalmans' flip a coin as you might gain a few degrees between them. I've owned them both in a very large TT Armor case with great air flow and between both of them there was 3-4C difference on load. I was happy either way with both of them, nice and quiet.

Well I read it as England first but then I re-read it and assumed he thought I was out of the country or something regarding shipping... never hurts to clarify.
