Difference between 3.2Ghz and 3.6 Ghz?

Thread Starter
I want to see the real-life scenarios where the extra .4 Ghz would make a difference. Not counting the benchies, lets say converting a bunch of music files or working with Photo Shop. How much of a difference would there be?

Maybe 2-3% better when encoding video or editing photos, not much!

Mm thanks! I was thinking of just lowering my OC to bring down the temps a bit. I think 3.2Ghz @ 1.25v should be enough to last me until this summer's gone...damn this house with high ambient temps..

I'd much rather have a system that runs cool, stable, and is reliable, than push it to the limits, run hot, and risk data loss / corruption.

Chances are, you wouldn't notice any increase in performance from a 400mhz overclock, and you may even notice a decrease in performance and stability. It really just depends on the chip.

well microman, seems your the only one that can get those hand picked super chips we the rest of us get whats left over,if you run 3.2 on that low of volts thats great, mine isnt the greatest but anywhere between 3.2-6 i concider a good chip,1.3-1.375 at 3.6 im happy with, and my vid isnt that great at 1.2625 now is it but seems better than the new ones, imo

I think that is the number to shoot for on the Q6600. 3.4GHz is easy to attain with a decent air cooler and isn't stressing the chip in the least. 3.6GHz would be a good steady water cooled OC for summertime.
