Fan Speed Guide

Temp wise you should be fine, and good luck overclocking!

Ohh and don't forget to register it, BFG now requires that you register it for the full warranty.

dont trust any one program for stability... when i was oc'ing my 8800gt, it would be stable in EVERYTHING, decent temps, but Crysis would freeze my computer.

After some research, I found out that, AT THE TIME, nothing required more power to the video card than Crysis.

Get Atitools to check stabily and aslo increase memory to 1000 and try that. Core bump it up by 5mhz and check if it stable.

Go easy, and go slow.

Have Everest running and monitoring temps.

Overclock a bit (20 mhz maybe) then stability test with 3DMark or one of the Nvidia demo's, and keep an eye on the temps. Do not exceed maybe 80 degree's or so.

Unlike other forms of overclocking, a graphics card overclock will artifact, and look odd, however progams will not detect this, so you have to watch it by eye.

ATItools doesn't work in Vista.

But yes, it is almost a gimme that the memory will go to 975 or so, however 1,000 is pushing it. The core should be able to do 700 ish, or at least an easy 650.

What is the gain going from like a 650mhz core to 675Mhz core? Substantial? Or just an extra 2 fps?

Both lol

Also, you might want to buy an aftermarket cooler, perform a bios mod with NiBiToR and OC the HELL out of it.. I got mine running at 32 °C Idle and 60 Load @ 750/1850/2000 with the zalman fatal1ty, but I'd also recommend you a thermaltake DuOrb..

Edit: Use rivatuner to overclock & monitor temps

Not to Hi-Jack the thread but I have the same card and upgraded the bios to fix the fan speed problem at 29%. Stock cooler no OC, would it it still be worth while to just set up the Riva Tuner profiles anyways?

The heatsink isn't as big as the other model 8800s, so overclocking will be limited somewhat. On stock settings heat should not be an issue though.
