Help Me Choose a New Game Addiction

Ok, after some time of not playing games (yes, years of no PC games) I have finally decided to put some of my money to actual work. I'm in the market for a new game. But usually i don't like most games. Of the past games i've played, I've only really like the games like Red Alert 2, Empire Earth (1, not 2) and Age of Empires. That's about it. I'm looking for another game to add to that collection (but at the moment, i'm trying to procure me a copy of Red Alert 2) I've seen the trailer for Red Alert 3 and i'm thinking of buying it when it comes out. Any other games out there that sound like the types of games i like to play? Thanks guys!

This isn't your standard Age Of Empires type of game, but I promise you'll love it. Half Life 2 is the SH**!!!!! Try it free. Download Steam, then get the free demo, Half Life 2- Lost Coast. I always liked Age Of Empires type of games before, but this game is so genius. I wound up buying the entire Orange Box and getting all the HL2 games. Try it, you won't regret it. It's VERY addicting.

Then, if you like HL2 and get The Orange Box, play Portal, it's also awesome.

There is always the good ole' age of empires 3. It's a blast, and I love having samurai in the asian dynasties expansion. command and conquer 3 is a blast imo, but i know a lot of red alert fans don't care for it too much. I haven't played either much, but if you're a sucker for RTS games, company of heroes and supreme commander are pretty fun, and World in conflict looks great. If a shooter is more your style, then do as the above poster said and try HL2. Then, when you like it, buy the orange box. Best deal in gaming you'll find on the retail shelves.

Starcraft 2 will be out at the end of the year. If its as good as the first one it will be AMAZING.

I know that doesn't help you right now but still, keep it in mind

Sounds like you are into real time strategy games. There is a guy in the Freebies section giving away Company of Hero's, It looks like a pretty sweet game. I just got Dawn of War Soulstorm a few months ago and it's a really good one was well. Give ya an link for a review on the pair

I love the Total War series of RTS', the unit battles involve a bit more strategy than your normal RTS and the games are frightfully addicting. Medieval II is the latest one, but Empires is coming out soon and looks gorgeous.

I also am an RTS fan. A few i've enjoyed are...

World In Conflict. Short, but sweet, and looks beautiful too
Company of Heroes. I've never really gotten into this one, but it is intense.
C&C3. I loved it but it was buggy early on and had several balance issues. Kane's Wrath is a disappointment, though
Rome: Total War: FANTASTIC. it is as the above poster said, frightfully addictive. Just thios past sunday, i spent i think 4/5 hours playing it, and i am only in the early stages of one faction's rise to supremacy. With the expansions, it becomes even better

Other titles you can try are Bioshock, CoD4, and also Oblivion...

But please, try the demo of Red Alert 3 before you buy it. Oh, and grab yourself a Steam account - www.steampowered.com is where you wanna be

thanks guy for all your responses. I'm not really into the first person shooter kind of games. I like to build up armies and control the battle field. I had heard about Rome: Total ar and i've played Shogun: Total War. So i might check those out. And when i was at Gametrailers.com, the Red Alert 3 trailer aid it wasn't coming out until Oct. 2008 So i guess i'll have to check that out.
