Wanna build a new PC?

Thread Starter
Okay, so, here's my little problem.

I have spent a total of 20+ hours on newegg.com trying to find good motherboards and RAM to go with an E8400, and here's where i'm spent; there are some mobos that say FSB 1333/1066[example - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131219] , and i'm assuming there's a setting in the mobo BIOS that allows you to switch back and fourth between the two FSB clock speeds? So, if that is the case, there are some mobos that claim they can use DDR2 800, as well as DDR2 1066[ example - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131182 ], and some that are just one or the other. If i got a mobo that says FSB 1333/1066 MHz and ran that with the E8400, that has an FSB of 1333MHz, with some DDR2 800, is that going to slow my computer down a lot, compared to the same mobo and processor with DDR2 1066?

I am completely inexperienced when it comes to rummaging around in the BIOS because, quite frankly, i do not know what i'm doing.

SO, having said that, can anybody maybe explain what's going on a little bit better, or recommend a decent mobo and RAM to pair with the E8400?

I'm terribly sorry for the confusing post, i'm sure it didn't make much sense, but my brain is so fried right now, i'm barely fumbling around.

Thanks for taking the time to help,

Jack

when it say 1333/1066 that means what chips it can support. like your e8400 is 1333 so its supported. and with runing pc 6400 wont slow any thing down. that p5k deluxe is a nice board my buddy has it. that would be a great board to pair with your chi. now as for ram id go with these

so...it supports a 1333 MHz CPU bus, then? Will i not have to set it or anything like that from the BIOS?

And are you selecting the PC2 8500 based on the P5k Deluxe?

you shouldnt... thou if you do get pc 8500 you ll have to set the manual by adjusting the memory multi and voltage. and for the ram it was only $10 more than the pc 6400 version. i didnt know if you plan to overclock or not

i would * like * to overclock, given that i actually learn how without damaging my hardware. i really don't know what i'm doing when it comes to any of that. so..here, for example, is what i'd like to put together, perhaps you can tell me if this will work, i'm pretty sure it will. And also, if i'll have to manually adjust the RAM.
