The jump from 65 to 55 nm isn't anywhere near that big.
So you believe the amount of heat produced is directly proportional? There is a lot of engineering that goes into redesigning the core. Many different factors will influence how that card performs, architecture, memory interface, memory amount, and drivers.
If you don't think that 1gig of memory with a 512bit interface wont double performance in crysis at 1920x1200 with AA and the SPs to back it up, I believe you are dead wrong.
Twice as fast is all relative. At some point you wont see progression at a given resolution from one card to another. I don't doubt, given certain circumstances, that the next gen from nVidia will give twice the performance of the GX2.
