OCZ Vendetta 2 connection on mobo

Thread Starter
TNT just delivered my new OCZ Vendetta 2 and djeez, that thing is huge

I thought it would come with a bolt thru kit, but theres only the standard pin connection.

Is it ok to mount this big thing with the standard pins or do i need a Thermalright LGA 775 bolt thru kit to get it fit ?

The reason i'm asking, is because the mobo "is already bent" (? )with the stock E6750 cooler.

TIA
Serwo

I think it's ok to mount it with the standart pins, because that's why they come with the cooler. Because it's tested

Also, make sure you dont overtighten it, because that might damage the board

After remounting my Scythe Mugen cooler a few times one of the plastic push pins broke. I'd highly suggest getting a bolt-thru kit. Although I'm not sure if you'd be able to use an LGA775 bolt kit with the Vendetta 2. If you were to use screws in the mounting holes, would there be enough clearance between that and the heatsink fins for you to screw them down? If not, I'd recommend getting the Thermalright LGA775 RM. It allows you to use the socket 478 mount included with your cooler on an LGA775 board.

I actually am using the Scythe Universal Retention Kit which is practically the same as the Thermalright LGA775 RM and I love it! The socket 478 brackets are much more secure than the plastic LGA775 push pins.

Ok, so I installed the OCZ v2 with the stock pin connection and everything went well. It seems to mount even better than with the stock E6750 cooler, did make a mistake though, by mounting the fan first before installing the cooler on the MB. But then there's no way you can reach the pins, so I had to take everything out again

After 2 hours of tweaking swearing and mounting I found out what else went wrong with the install, I hate me... !
