I'm not sure I've ever heard of a player that will play FLAC files. It's just not popular for portable devices. I guess because space is more limited.
Thanks for the info-it seems good. I'll look into it for a player. It looks like (at least through Foobar) OGG can go up to 500kbs, which is pretty good for lossy. I'll use that probably when I can.

Does anybody know of a good player or brand that has OGG support?

EDIT: So far, I found some Players that I would be interested in, but not sure of the brand reputation or anything..

I'm not that anal.

I'll just stick with Foobar-I probably wouldn't notice I difference with FLAC with Foobar or that with my quality of audio setup.

Um, you guys are forgetting that the A3 is designed to just play media, and all types of media. I mean on iAudiophile forums, the biggest compliant was that h.264 HP wasn't working right (and they fixed it for the most part, and it continues to improve).

Not to mention the sound quality is top notch. I'm salivating over this, but I have the 60GB version, so I'm not sure if 20GB is worth it to get a new one, since it has a USB host and can read music off memory cards and stuff anyways.

So I take its a good brand? That 30GB model for under 300 looks pretty tempting to me.

EDIT: It looks like the A3 supports...

Quote:
File format
MP3/2/1, WMA,ASF, FLAC, OGG, M4A, MATROSKA(MKA), AC3,TTA, APE, MPC, WV, WAV

Audio Codec
MPEG1 Layer 1/2/3, WMA, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, OGG FLAC, APPLELossless, AAC/AAC+, AC3, True Audio, Monkey Audio, MusePack, WavPack, G.726, PCM
Would FLAC be the best to use here?

EDIT2: The battery life looks not-so-good on the A3, but it's decent. 7 hours for movie, 9 for 128kb MP3 (LCD OFF), probably less for lossless.
The D2 has better battery life but only comes in 8GB max w/ an expandable memory slot.
The iAudio 7 has amazing battery life up to 16GB, but a smaller screen.

For the portable media player, you could just get a 5th generation iPod and put RockBox on it.

I hear good things about the Archos players too.

The only problem I have with iPod is with the space. I want more than 8GB with the nano, don't want to pay $400 for a 16GB Touch, and don't want an 80GB Classic which is the next step up.
