Q6600 has some more potentials but won't do it. why?

firstly is again to say hello to everyone. I'm new to the forum with limited overclocking experice from my first build in 3 months ago and months of reading from this forum and others.

Currently, i have my sys run 3.51 (pls see my setting below) and passed over 8 hours prime95 with acceptable temp (idle 32's, load 61's). Just like everyone, I want to find out my pc maximum overclock capablility. I have tried all but failed to get it run passed what i have right now. I have increased voltage NB / SB / FSB / CPU voltages in different combinations. Nothing works! However, in 1 setting, I have pc booted 395X9 = 3.55 at these voltage CPU 1.4125v,FSB 1.4v,MCH 1.85v, ICH AUTO and temp only increase 2-3 degrees for idle/load, but it failed prime95 in 30 minutes. Did i try increase my CPU voltage? yes i did increase up to 1.4500 but wouldn't work, no boot.

I believe this chip can be pushed a bit more since the temp and voltage still have some room left, have not reached its max. I must be doing something not correct in those voltages or something else? I don't think it's my ram since i once ran it a bit over 800 mhz at 4-4-4-12 stable.

the big question is what's wrong here? by the way, i am very happy with what i am now. I'll be happier if i can push it to 3.6

Thank you all very much for your time and help.

O.K. first when testing OC for the first time only use 2 sticks of RAM.4 puts too much stress on the system when you're screwing with all the settings. This screws up an awful lot of people. After you get a stable OC You can see what it takes to use all 4 sticks.
Second, I need more vcore to get stable at 3.6. I use 1.45.
Third, go to the top of the page, see the thick black line? Click on User CP and fill in your system specs there. It makes it SSSOOOOOOOO much easier when everyone is trying to help you.

what kind of cooling do u have?? your idle is greatt for the speed your running at. and which programs are you using to record these temps?

hi guys, thanks for your posts.

I am currently testing my system outside of my case, and my room temp is 68F. I use realtemp to record my temp. Last night, I raised my vcore up to 1.500v with only 2 stick of ram w/no success. Is it normal to go from 3.5 with 1.3875v to 3.6 with over 1.5000v? Does it need that much of raised voltage for cpu to go from 3.5 to 3.6? if that is true, then i don't think it's worth to raise that much voltage just for .1 gh. what do you say?

Try to relax memory timings to 5-5-5-15 and increase FSB Term to 1.35 and NB to no more than 1.48-1.50 (your case-northbridge temps increase by quiet a bit when you increase NB voltage).
