I've got a distribution cd w/ cdkey.

it worked other times when i needed to install windows, no problem.

Any scratches on the disk if so you can try to use a disk repairing kit or toothpaste method to fix it. If not borrow a disk off a friend.

ill try the toothpaste method.. i just read up on it. sounds interesting.. but any other ideas anyone?

okay well.. im going to do a bios update soon. after that im going to go to bed. my head hurts. ill update tomorrow!!

okay well.. i tried the bios update with no success. i tried everything posible to get this thing running. it just wont boot anything at all. i get a BSOD when i let my old windows boot saying i need to run a hard drive check. i need to erase everything on that drive. someone help me..

I don't suppose it will boot another disk? A Memtest disc perhaps?

If it won't boot any type of disc...then your problem may lie in the Optical Drive.

sounds like something with the disk itself , how it was burnt or whatever. You have a basically original disk or is it one that was copied for you ?? Im just curious all the things google comes up with references boot sector of cd and how its burnt . the condition is ok or poor ??

if you have another pc try the disk in it if it works its probably your cd/dvd rom drive

My optical drive worked before i took apart my old system. and the disk itself works fine in other systems.
