Screw the Nirvana, this is my second one. Yes, the fan has died. The build quality of them are god-awful. I am going to get a decent one. I just want to know which would be better: An OCZ Vendetta 2, a Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme (might lap), or a Tuniq Tower 120. I wanna get something worthwhile for me that will run for a long time. Any place you can buy TRUEs already lapped? Or does someone wanna do it for me? I'm a little skiddish...

I say go for lapping it yourself. It's a great experience, and honestly you can't go wrong. At all.Unless you drop it. It was my first lap and I was afraid at first too, but it went really well. *cough* sig

Although I know CrazyPcs has some pre-lapped. And the TRUE will last you long, and you can upgrade and mod it well. Also doesn't need a fan for me, so it works well passive also. Basically it will last you a long time with many different uses. (Well, all related to cooling a CPU, that is )

If you're talking about crazypcs.com, they don't have pre-lapped ones. It's in euros anyway. I'm in teh US.

Aw well they used to...I enforce my point on lapping it yourself. I would trust someone on the street to do it, even. Pretty straightforward. ''Move da block o' metal on da funny paper! Hihi feels good!''

edit: looked up ur HSF...

You might be able to buy a 120 and take the motor and blades and transplant 'em or, just ziptie a new 120mm fan to it.

If you really want to get a new HSF go for a 120mm direct heatpipe contact model. several of those beat out stock TT120s and TRUEs.

Here's my personal suggestion.

Lemme see if i can find a review to back me up

edit edit: HERE YA GO! Beats 'em all out

ugghhh... I hate being the last post on a page....

I voted stock. Not the second part but this is what i mean.

Water cooling is very good just use stock! You dont even really need to overclock the E8400 it has plenty of power stock. Just run stock until you can get a nice water cooling setup.

Water isn't going to happen anytime soon. First, i don't have room for it, and second, i don't know how to do it. And third, i don't want to risk frying my system from a leak.

I am pretty interested in the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme from CrazyPC.com, but what fan should i strap on it?
