Raidmax 700W PSU?

Thread Starter
Recently, in another thread someone was criticizing Thermaltake psus to my dissatisfaction. I noticed he had a Raidmax 700W psu in his sig rig. I was going to go all Ad Hominem on his butt, but I thought otherwise and decided to do some research. Now I know you think I'm crazy, Raidmax is a synonym for crap. But maybe he was onto something. So I looked up the 700W Raidmax psus on newegg. There are two models, the RX-700 and the RX-700SS. Just by looking at it, I knew right away the RX-700SS was utter crap. But then I looked at the close-up pics of the non-SS version. What does that look like to you (Sorry Newegg for the hotlink)?

FSP?! That sure looks like an Epsilon 700 or 760 to me. I can't find any reviews, can anyone confirm this? It seems like more and more companies known for consistent crap are figuring out how to make a decent psu once in a while.

Stick to Corsair and PC P&C. Their pricey, but worth it.

UL number for the RX-700SS is E243838 (check the label pics). It is for RAIDTRONICS. So either it's built by them or they just paid for the UL number. Not too sure about RAIDMAX off the top of my head so I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the link. I've got a pretty reliable list of psu OEMs, unfortunately the 700W models aren't on it. This is all I have:
OEM: Sun Pro
RX380K ~11A
RX420K ~13A
RX-450KW ~14A

OEM: Topower
RX-470XPW ~15A
RX-520XP ~18A

OEM: Andyson
RX-450K ~ 26A

OEM: ATNG
RX-530A ~28A
RX-630A ~30A

I also couldn't read the UL on the non-SS 700 so I looked up the other one and it looks to me that Raidmax slaps their UL number on most of their psus so that's no real help there .

I've done some more digging. The Sigma (same company as Raidmax) SP-700, is identical on the exterior and rail layout to the Raidmax RX-700. I was able to get a UL for the Sigma and it pointed me towards Sun Pro. Raidmax (Sigma) also sell 900 and 1000W models of what look to be the same platform and according to the OEM list over at guru3d forums, are all listed as Sun Pros. So I checked out Sun Pro's website but they didn't offer any models over 600W. So I hit up google to see if I could get any hits on Sun Pro 700W psus but almighty google would not reveal the hidden truth. I'm not saying Sun Pro didn't make it, they just didn't have anything similar listed.

What bugs me is that from the pictures on Newegg, the exterior and what little you can see of the internal layout of the Raidmax/Sigma 700 is exactly the same as the Epsilon. The labels even share the same layout and unique rail setup, recognizable as an Epsilon. As a last try, I went to Raidmax's website. The initial picture attributed to the 700 is the same as the one on the 'egg. But when you click on the more information link (here), it shows a different picture which seems familiar and could almost be an Andyson.

Now that I am thoroughly confused, I'm about to give up.

OT: Good job on defending Thermaltake PSUs, there is nothing wrong with them at all.

As for the raidmax, who would take that gamble though. Most of the are just made of phail.

Thanks for the contribution. I guess I should go elsewhere for serious psu discussion.
