When hookup up a power supply to a motherboard do you need to have the 24 pin and the 8 pin power input in or just one?

I just put together my first system and when I turn on the power nothing happens.

plug both in, that SHOULD solve the problem. Be sure to post back and let us know. If you need more help, you know where to look!

If you're hooking up that DFI board in your sig you for sure need the extra power input. The DFI boards are extremely picky in the voltage/power supplied to them. Good luck and like hiiyah777 said please post back for more help, if needed. We don't want any pc parts needlessly fried!

I appreciate the help. It ended up my RAM needed to be reseated. I'm sure I will have more questions soon!

I have Vista, MB, and GPU drivers/updates installed. Everything is looking good. Only problem I'm having now is that my monitor won't recognize my DVI cable. Might be a bad cable or slot being that both are old. I have it in RGB with the converter supplied by EVGA. A little annoying but def. a small problem.
