After making quite some waves with its OLED key=equipped Optimus Maximus, the people at Art. Lebedev Studio have decided on making something very different. The result, which is currently just a concept with a mock-up pictured below, is the Optimus Popularis.

The upcoming keyboard is shorter than the Optimus Maximus and is said to be based on a different principle, which means, no OLED keys. The Optimus Popularis is expected to be priced below $1000 but currently there's no estimate as to when it should be available for purchase.

If it has no OLED keys what sets it apart from any other keyboard? Or is it just a regular kb from the people who make the optimus?

Let's not forget the Maximus is a crappy keyboard for typing on.

When you start talking thousands of dollars and "hey look it's <$1000" concerning a keyboard, something has gone horribly wrong.

Maybe its going to have gold plated keys with the letters spelled out in diamonds?

It would be pretty cool if they integrated a UMPC into it so it would just plug into a mouse and monitor and theres your computer. That would cost about $1000...

Love it! Nintendo brought back the Game & Watch in the form of the DS, and look where that got them. I think a modern version of it, especially if it had HDMI or composite out would be great for the mainstream market.

Did you got your fingers on it?

If not what makes you saying this?
I used 10€ keyboards that sucked and ones that been very nice to use.
It also dependence on your personal preference.

Yeah well considering Art Lebedev ruined our chances of owning a good LED-display keyboard with their crap, they'll probably make up some new way of ruining some new exciting products as well. *clap*
