New at overcloking - Phenom 9500 2.2 (NOT BE)

Thread Starter
Greetings,

I bought a Phenom 9500 Agena @ 2.2 and I want to overclock it. I can't do it through "AMD Overdrive" (great tool for newbies like me) because I don't own a "Black Edition" so the multipliers are locked
Can someone explain me from the beginning how to overclock a Phenom 9500 until it get around 2.5/2.7???

PC Specs:

Mobo: ASUS M3A
Memory: Super Talent 2x2048
Micro: Phenom 9500 2.2 Agena
HD: WD Caviar 250gb
Video: NX8600GT Twin Turbo

Hi there
Though the multiplier is locked u can overclock.Either from bios or through AOD. Increasing HT bus. For the beginner there is a option auto overclocking in AOD. Start that one and wait for it to finish. It will determine you OC automatically.

But in AOD It appears locked (I'll post a picture as soon as I arrive at home, I'm at work at the moment). I saw "that" bar where i can do the OC for n00bs like me but I can't move it at all . Do you know how to unlock it?
That's my big problem

On my Asus M2N32-SLI motherboard, I got my Phenom 9500 in it running at 2.55GHz. All I did was raise the HT to 232 on it. Perhaps you could try increasing yours to around there. I didn't really do much with the volts, except for the RAM is all.

Some where in your BIOS, if you have a Jumper Free Configuration, it should be as "FSB" which by default is 200.

Yeah, you should be able to get that speed. The Multiplier on the Phenom 9500 is locked at 11. So 11 times 232 equals 2552 which is 2.55GHz. That is what I have it up to on my older computer which has the Phenom 9500. I have not went any higher due to stock cooling still.

hi! well im glad too see im not the only OC newbie with a phenom. doing this in bios? you probably will hit 2.5GHz on phenom with only 70C (very hot and almost melting point) so get some cooling. Tell me more on this OC fail warning... this never happend to me. there image of my rather badly done OC :S. underload i hit 51C tops and thats with OCZ vendetta 2 Cooling.
