Firann, kind of a long shot here but I wonder what the temps would be like if you threw the 6000+ back in for testing?

I would reverse your airflow setup. Make the side fan bring in cold air and then suck it out through your rads. Also, if its hot like that, maybe its your pump thats just not cutting it. If you had a flow-meter (little propeller in water line) you would be able to tell where you stand with how much flow you get. Too much isnt good, as there is little time for the water to absorb the heat, and too low isnt good either as the water becomes saturated with heat.

I got the DCC with petra's top pump pllus a dtek fusion with the 5mm nozzle in.
My temps on the 6000 where not that great either around 40o idle.

To the request about turning the fan setup around, if i have the rad fans pull air out the temps rise more. I'm thinking a way of getting more cool air in and taking hot out through the back before it reaches the rad to cool down the GPU

Firann, on my CM690 I have a one 120MM x 25 on the side panel bottom intaking air. The fan is blowing directly on my 3850 and chipset. Perhaps you could try that?

Good luck

Whats your temps like on the radeon? I bought the mobo and cpu in the thought of selling my 8800GT and getting a 3870x2 or wait for the 4870s.

I think the problem with the case is that its built for 7 fan configuration for optimal airflow, and the lack of rear exhaust is causing probs.

The way i see it, maybe the problem isn't rad or GPU. Maybe its my Reservoir position and the GPU is warming up the liquid in the res. Theoretically though the rad should cool it down, but if its hot all around maybe thats one problem.

On your question: When will a CPU die.

It will slow down at 60c and at 75c this become slightly slugish. 85c is choppy desktop movement/no 3D applications. 100c it will still be running but it will be like a Socket 754 Sempron. 115c is normally when they burn up and don't come back.

Firann, with a ambient room temp between 72-78F the average idle temperature of my 3850 is around 42-45C. During gameplay it get's up to 57-60C. I've also taken off the stock thermal paste and applied some AS5.
Have you tried posting in the water cooling section and ask the WC experts in there? Perhaps something is not done correctly with your setup

Kamikaze, in my experience at 70C the machine will just lock up. I've never actually been able to operate above that temperature.
