Well, based on the prices, if you can get a 9800GTX cheaper than an 8800GTX, I would get the 9800, especially if you're on a 19 inch. But personally I would say get an 8800GTS 512, it's cheaper and will perform only slightly worse than the 9800, and you're gaming at low res.

From those selections, there's really nothing that comes close to the 9800GTX in terms of value. If you are running at 1280x1024 however, I'd argue that you don't need something that powerful. Something like an 8800GT would be more than enough for any game.

Another vote for the 9800GTX

Especially at your resolution

Around the time NVIDIA released the 9800GTX, the 8800GTX went down to £170 in some places. Now all the uk retailers are cashing in and have bumped up their 8800GTX prices.

overclockers.co.uk, whom are always the cheapest in the uk, have now put all their 8800gtx's up to what they were before the 9800GTX arrived (£225+). Its a rip off.

My solution; buy a tent and live in the mountains of Wales and escape this capitalist hell.

Finally, someone that shares the same views as me!

I'm going to start a tribe! Want to come?

edit: and for the record, if you can get an 8800GTS cheaper than 9800GTX, you should get it. It's basically the same card, and performs about the same. In my case, the 9800GTX was cheaper in price, so I went with it. Gained about 2000 points + in 3DMark06 upgradingfrom an 8800GT too.
