9800GX2 or 2 8800 GTS 512's? - Page 3

2 8800GTSs will outperform a single GX2, i think if you source them right you can get the two cheaper than a single GX2.

9800GTX's aren't worth even existing. The 8800GTS would do better...9800GX2's are fantastic when you get a game that takes them on well. But there costly, but if you want the best...it always costs.

the GX2 is a disgrace to Nvidia, for what its worth, youd be better getting a 3870x2, or w 8800GTSs and SLI

What I find more funny is people keep referring to SLI 8800GTSs and a GX2 as different beasts.

BOTH setups are SLI. There is an internal SLI bridge on the GX2 which does the same thing as external. The difference is that the informantion is output over one PCI-E slot instead of two.

Opinions on this forum are based off internet BS and others opinions that go out to simply flame something they do not own and are never likely to. I own them and i know first hand how good they are.

For the record. I used to own 2x 8800GTX's and my single GX2 is better. My only gripe with the 9800GX2 is in Quad SLI.

Just like your opinion on the 9800GTX? What impressions did you get from the one(s) you owned?
Two G92 8800GTS's are faster and a lot cheaper than one 9800GX2. 9800GX2's were meant for people that have motherboards that don't support sli or want to blow their money on quad sli.

I gotta call BS on this one, two 8800GTX's SMOKE the 9800GX2. I would go as far as saying that I would rather have two 8800GTX's in sli than having two 9800GX2's in quad sli. Anyone willing to blow their money on two 9800GX2's is an idiot IMHO. Especially considering that one 9900GTX will probably beat two 9800GX2's in quad sli. Also, you still only have 512MB of memory available and that crappy 256bit bus even though you have 4 cards in total.

Actually, i owned a 9800GTX at the same time i recieved my GX2's. I tested them individually and from my first hand impressions of the card it made me stick with the GX2's

Then their are those posts made by "fanboys" quite often to subconsciously justify their own purchase(s).
