my sig rig is my first build, but have custom made several PCs after this one, i have a small business in my area, but i agree with you.
The reason for my view on the GX2 is that from systems that freinds have containing the gx2 the computer has not benched well, and generaly does not perform well in things such as crysis.
im sure it is good for many applications, the dual core aspect im sure boosts performance, but for the cost over performance gain i really dont think its worth it.

WTH? Both the 9800GTX and G92 8800GTS use the same drivers as they are both the exact same cards.....

Also the 8800GTS has tighter timings and with the newer and some of the older G92 8800GTS's being equipped with samsung memory they will actually outperform an overclocked 9800GTX when both are overclocked.

I'd just wait another month personally, the new cards coming out in june are suppose to be at least 50% faster then the current batch of cards.

If it was me, I would buy a couple 9800GTX cards from EVGA, and if the new cards come out in a month or two just step up. You'll have more value to put forward on the step up, and if you don't like the new cards you could just grab another GTX and Tri-SLI.

I think you made a good decision to go with the two 9800GTX's. I originally got two 8800GTS 512's, but I ended up sending them back for the 9800GTX. Two 9800GTX provide more than enough power to play anything maxed out. I'm running crysis at 50-60fps on very high (with everything at stock speeds).

I was having trouble with this decision myself, (8800gts vs 9800gx2 vs 9800gtx) when building my system. After extensive research I determined two 8800's performed better than the 9800gx2 for less $$$. + there is really no need for quad sli (even tri sli for that matter) because a second 9800gx2 doesn't even bump performance much at all. Go ahead with the two 9800GTX's, I promise you'll feel really good about it.

Make sure you have a big enough case as they are quite a bit longer than the 8800's. The 9800's are selling for $270 at amazon right now... My budget was right in the same area as yours ($3000). The end result was all of my friends drooling over this baby! Trust me & go with the 9800GTX's, you won't regret it...
