Help w/ Norton Ghost Image

Thread Starter
I have a Norton Ghost image (.gho) that I want to put on a HDD. I have Norton Ghost, but I can't find any function to put an image on a local drive. Everything is set for imaging over a network.

Does anyone know how to take a Norton Ghost image (.gho) file and put it on a local HDD?

Thanks all!

Ok.. .I have a question here.

The ghost image file (*.gho)... where is it currently located? Is it on a separate drive or partition?

I usually use Norton Ghost 2003 to do this restore from DOS... pretty much I just point the image to the HDD or partition that I want it on and then let it go from there.

Are you trying to do this from inside Windows? If so, then that might be an issue.

1. Boot Disk with CD R/RW, LPT, and USB support.
2. Peer to Peer Network Boot Disk
3. CDROM Boot Disk

You use (1) when you will be writing your image file to CD R/RW's or another hard disk, and, optionally to back up from another system via a parallel or USB cable.
(2) is used to make a back up across a TCP network connection
(3) is used when you read from a cd or make it bootable, to be used when restoring a partition from cdrom image sets (the boot disk (1) does not include DOS cd rom drives for reading from a cdrom)

Ghost includes a version of PC DOS for making the boot disk, but optionally allows you to install MS DOS from your Win 98 or Win ME boot disk. Norton recommends trying MSDOS to resolve several problems, so I recommend you start with MSDOS if you can.

Never mind guys... I got it. I just used the little DOS program that comes with it.

The image was on my OS drive and the drive I wanted to image was local. I just couldn't find the option in the windows program. Good old DOS to the rescue.

Reps all around for trying to help =)
