Need bigger tips for FX33's

Thread Starter
i got some JVC marshmallows today but the tips are not big enuff for my ears, i must have abnormally large ear holes!!

can any1 suggest a larger tip, width wise, that will fit the fx33's so i can get a good seal, without a good seal the phones sound awful....i can push them with my fingers and they sound good....

thanx in advance!! dave

You could check out shure foamies/olive tips, I believe they fit the FX33 and they're very popular.

I'm not sure how well they'll fit. The inner diameter of the foams and foam olives are a lot smaller than the ID for the Marshmallows, you'll need to mod the sleeves some how. I bought a pair of the FX34 the other day to tide me over until new IEMs, but I don't get a very nice seal either. As far as I can tell, the problem is that design of the Marshmallows doesn't allow you to insert them as far as Shures/UEs, and the foam isn't as thick so it doesn't compress very much.

thanks, i've found a solution for the moment... after doing the kramer mod i worked out that if i cut the end off the foam tips i can get them further into my ear canal, i cut them down so that when they are on the phone the grey sleeve extends out from the end of the tip by about 1mm. this made the seal better, but not good enuff!!!

so, after thinking for a bit i decided to turn the foam tips around so that the thick end is the first bit to enter the ear canal, and hey presto, bobs yer uncle, fannys yer aunt, perfect, excellent seal, excellent sound.

i recommend this to anyone who finds the tips on jvc 'mallows too small to get a good seal!!

Another good fit is the Shure E2c foam sleeves. You'll need to stretch the inner tubing a little with a pencil or something, and put it on without the gray tubing from the Marshmallows.
