endless reboot after installing Vista 32

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I have a P4 2.6 on an Biostar U8668 with 768Mb and an X1550 from Visiontek. I just installed Vista on it [3 times] and it goes through the same thing:

It loads the CD, extracts all files, starts installing, then goes to "completing installation", does that, then the computer goes for a reboot to continue. when it comes back, there is a "windows was not shut down properly 'safe mode' screen comes up before loading the OS. then the GUI boot gives me the green scroll-y bar a few times, and then reboots.

I've tried installing with and without the internet hooked up, with diff. ram configs, I tried pulling the cmos battery for a while, and I still get no love.

After trying this entire post over again, after pulling the battery the 2nd time, I now have no video. onboard nor the card.

I hope I didn't break it.

I will be extremely grateful for all suggestions.

Is it a legitimate copy?

EDIT: I remember something like this happening with SP1, and they stopped the automatic update for it.

Man, I wish.

However, I did find a legit copy of XP. The video still doesn't work, though. Could it be because of the battery I pulled?

Could be a video driver issue.. my best guess.. does safe mode work?? I am assuming that the endless reboot is when you try to boot normally.
