PCI-Express graphics card/slot not working

Thread Starter
I cannot get my PCI-Express card slot to work. I know that the graphics cards are working and such. I know that the power supply is working, I know that the processor is working.

Is there a way to test just the PCI-Express slot?

I put a regular PCI graphics card in, just to see if it would work with that, and it worked. I tried updating the BIOS, it is at the latest release. So I really am at a loss for words how to try and fix this problem. How would I go about doing this guys. Thank you kindly for reading this.

The motherboard is an ASUS P5LD2 http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...15&modelmenu=1
Processor is the Pentium D 820. I have tried my ATI Radeon X700, and an nVIDIA 7900GS. The power supply is a 550 Watt Power supply like the one listed on the comp specs below and also tried an Antec SmartPower 500.

Is it an SLi motherboard? If so, maybe you have the card in the wrong PCI slot?

No the motherboard doesn't have SLI. the specs can be seen here: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...15&modelmenu=1

I also added the link to the original post.

What card are you trying to use and can you try it in a different computer?

I tried using an ATI Radeon X700 Pro and the nVIDIA 7900GS. I just tested them in another computer and they work. As in the screen is receiving a signal. The other computer that i'm building (with the Asus P5LD2) isn't making the monitor come out of standby mode. The cards are getting power to start up the fans, but just not display anything.
