Gaming or Music & Movies?
For gaming some 5.1 computer speakers would be fine, the main idea is to have something behind you so you can know where you are being shot at from.
For music and movies you would be amazed how much difference a $150 receiver with two pairs of $40 speakers makes. That's more than double your price point ($230), but in my opinion its completely worth it, movies and music will sound so much better.
