wolfbane optimization?

Hardware from the ground up):
case: antec p182
power: antec 650 watt
mobo: asus striker II formula
cpu: 3.0GHz E8400, 6mb L2, 1333 fsb 45nm
mem: mushkin xp2-8000 redline (2x2gb)
heatsink: cm sphere
video: single ati radeon x1650 pro

OS: xp pro

-----
I've gotten it up to 4.4GHz (unstable) and am currently at 4.05 by setting fsb to 1804MHz and having the ram set to 1066MHz but I've heard that's a relatively low number for this chip and setup. I'm scared to touch volts just yet... i haven't even played around with this chipset enough and i am new to the Asus boards.
Any pointers or bios files from someone with a similar setup?

Make sure you stay under 1.37 on your CPU and don't worry about the voltages on the board. They are tough boards, leave settings at auto, and increase NB to no more than 1.48-1.50, leave SB at auto and you will be fine.

any thoughts on getting it stable at 4.4 or better? come on, the components are pretty decent and i've heard people with less getting it up to 5.00.. i'd be happy with a stable 50% increase (4.50) but i just switched from an AMD setup and different chipset where OC was simple.

all i used to have to do was set the fsb, ratio and ram speed and make sure they dont outweigh eachother. but this asus board is intimidating with all the options.

Wolfdale perhaps?

4GHz sounds like a pretty healthy number to me, on any modern processor. Of course, you could get more from a little voltage bump. How are your temps?

Also, if you're a gamer, you're gonna need to upgrade that video card!

the temps are fine. about 37C idle and 46C when burning for 10 mins. i probably need to get liquid cooling or something to keep that number lower.

yeah i don't game too much but that card can run fear at 95% and the witcher at 100% which is all i've gotten into lately.

I've been buying it in pieces at a time throwing 200 dollar chunks at it and i'm wondering whether i want cooling or gpu's next.

does that sound about right for volts? i dont want to take just one person's advice and pop the board or something stupid because i didnt research enough.

also, any advice on gpu's for this set up? what works well with e8400 and the strikerII.

4.05 is good and my MAX bootable OC is 4.4GHz@1.5v. That's a suicide run for this chip. MAX volts as mentioned are 1.3625v, and I would recommend following. I can go with a 450x9 FSB or a 500x8 with 1.29v 100% stable.
