But it'll be bigger than the UMPC!

2. Have you ever ran an operating system off of a USB thumb drive? Its slow. Painfully slow. This laptop doesn't even have the option for a hard drive.

3. $250 is a lot, considering that the OLPC XO-1, which costs $100 less, offers literally twice the performance.

It would be the equivalent of selling one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11651 for $500.
1. So what? Like said before, SUN makes processors that are high performance and dont even break the ghz...

2. No, and you dont know how the performance is. So pure speculation.

3. It is $180 in volume, so not that bad... And twice the performance? How do you figure.. lol

RISC automatically means it is not x86 => too few applications/games can be run on this sub laptop
Because you automatically know how it will perform?.. k.

Also, Open Source .

If you know a little bit of me you would know that I support Open Source.
And you'd know that I have MIPS processor, and it's 200MHz, I know how it performs.

I'd be happy if people inform themselves (gather some info), before trying to argue with me.

Then you should know there will be open source apps capable of running on it.

ok, even if its MIPS its NOT the same processor, and its "possibily MIPS". Therefore it could not even be related to it, thus throwing your entire argument out the window.

I only hope that you dont assume I am not informed before trying to argue with me .

I agree with the open apps argument but with addition that they are few. (Hurray, I can run BIND server on my lappy.)

If you want to continue arguing please PM. You are very welcome.
