Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge :over: Mobo HD sound??

I have a Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge sound card, which is an excellent sound card. The problem is its a bit old (2001).

My question is:

I have onboard HD sound (Realtek), but I wanted to know if installing the Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge would be a better option for better sound quality.

I know onboard sound is never great, but wanted to be sure which is better considering the Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge is not HD.
