I can't remember where it is, but there is a mod that makes the drivers see your card as "nVidia Quadro xxxx" and lets you have that Hardware Accelerated OpenGL in windowed apps.

Also, all cards let you have "hardware accelerated OpenGL in windowed applications", Quadro cards are just the exact same card with more vram and optimization for CAD programs, GeForce have less vram and are optimized for games.

The 8 series Geforce and the equivalent Quadro graphics cards are identical in their capability. However Nvidia has inserted a hardware based detector to prevent "softmods" on their GeForce products. You can install the Quadro driver but unless you can find the resister on the circuit board to modify you will not get proper OpenGL hardware acceleration from professonal applications.
