Thermaltake has just taken the covers off its latest cooler. You have seen a product like this in the past but it has been updated and given a new name.

DuOrb AX is the big brother of the DuOrb with the difference being that it’s been freshened up to support a wider range of graphics cards. You will get support for Nvidia 9600 GT, 8600 GTS/GT, 7600 GT/GS and ATI HD 3850 and others that were not compatible with the old model which saw its release earlier in the year.

DuOrb AX has been created with the effective cooling construction as the original DuOrb VGA cooler, 2 copper heatpipes penetrating aluminum fins with copper base. The mirror coating copper base and copper heatpipes effectively transfer the VGA heat to the two separate sourced heat radiating fins. As a result, the DuOrb series coolers cool twice as fast and efficient than the traditional coolers. The Dual-Flow design not only dissipate the heat of GPU, but it cools the GPU surrounding area at the same time as one of the most well commented features of Thermaltake DuOrb coolers.

The breakthrough design of the ScurveTM double fans on DuOrb not only enables greater cooling performance; it adds on an extra visual pleasure for your system as well. The aluminum fins of DuOrb AX gives the DuOrb series a new futuristic shine. Check out the new Thermaltake DuOrb AX VGA cooler with widened compatibility and new look, and fit yourself in the world of top DIY enthusiasts!

Ohh bigger?!

That was the weakness of the Duorb, if you used it on an 8800GTX class card or above, it got overwhelmed, however on anything below that it was very nice.

FYI Original:
8800GT
ambient 20C

volt modded to 1.25
idle 40
load ~55 (load was taken on 24 Celsius day)

Is the heatsink that comes in contact with the actual GPU any bigger?

Is it still going to support the 8800 series? When will it be out? Is it thicker than the original?

Its compatible with all 8800 series, and it is 4.5mm thicker than original.

If the old one wasn't, this new one wont be.

I dunno I kinda liked the Copper look. Thermaltake is just pumping out the new stuff though. They've even got a new line of FX Orbs in 5 colors. I'm still witing on the Max Orb EX though.
