I need new headphones

Thread Starter
well for all you audiophiles out there this is a chance to stand up and fight for your opinion. I am looking for new headphones with a budget of about $80-120.
I am hoping to use these for almost everything although they will mostaly be for my ipod and computer. Now this is getting picky but if it is possible they should have good base, crisp highs, and add depth to the music.

I don't know a lot but it would be good if they do not need a amp to sound good

thanks in advance people, and remember rep+ for the winner of course

I suggest the hd555's, AH-700's or the Grado SR-125's. hd555's if you like an overall good sounding headphone with a wide soundstage, AH-700 closed so you won't bother anyone and great thumping bass, Grados for up in your face music, especially awesome for Rock.

Nice choice. I own both the grado sr-80's and the hd555's but I listen to my grados more. The music just sounds so much more exciting, makes you want to get up and dance lol.

I own the HD555's and love them. You should seriously look into AKG's though, they're not outrageous and they sound GREAT.

what AKG's are you thinking of
Most AKG's need amplifiers, so I suggest you do not get them, well at least the good ones do.

so Grado SR-80 or SR-125 depending on the kind of money I can scratch up thanks.
if any one else has opinions I will take them...
I was going to suggest the AKG K514. Their only $80 or so, good response, and are 32 ohm so require no amp, the sensitivity level is ~118db/w.

SR-125s are very good and also don't make you look that bad in public. (lol.) THey can use an amp but it isn't needed.
