I am desperate IRQL error

I would normally post this in the 780 guide but the only people that go in there would be 780i owners.

I am pissed.

I had two gigs of crucial memory that were not on the compatibility list, so when I got a IRQL_NO_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO error, I figured, if anything it could be them.

So I bought 2x 2gigs of PC-8000 G-skill memory that are on the compatibility list. I was able to get into windows a few times, and now I cant even get as far as the windows loading screen.

So I figured I would try the crucial memory since I could at least get into windows with everything set to default in the bios, still can't get the windows loading screen. So I unplugged everything, all i have plugged into the mobo is my cpu, gpu and one stick of ram(have already tried all four).

The only thing that seem odd is that on the last page in the BIOS loadup is the IRQ list, all the memory controller options are given NA. I have no idea if this is normal or not. I just figured if they werent applicable, then they would have been left out of the list.

Well I dont know about XP or if your using whats in your signature but in Vista if you try to load windows without SP1 installed and you have 4gb of RAM in you will get IRQL errors. So basically try taking one of the 2gb sticks out and just using a total of 2gb then go into windows and get SP1 then when its done put the other stick back in and your good to go. Lemme know if this is your case pls...

It sounds a good possibility that the failing ram has borked your xp installation. Try a repair see if that helps.

Yes I have XP, and I have already tried all 4 sticks by themselves in the correct slot, closest to the cpu.

Cant even get that far, but I guess I could try to pop in the CD just to see if it can try.

EDIT: I am freaking out now because I cant find my envelope with my XP disk, I think my son got to it and hid it.

Well I tried the windows CD from my wifes computer just to see what would happen, and it started to boot from the CD but went straight to the blank screen again.

Just reset all your BIOS setting to "AUTO", undo your overclock for now. You should be able to goto WinXp. I suspect it is a motherboard failure...

+REP to the jamaican skull dude.

Well, like I said i tried to boot with another xp disk and guys, I already stated that I was at defaults for everything.

So I threw my HDD into another computer thinking, hey, if anything I should at least see the windows screen, but guess what, it did the exact same thing, but, if I boot with my other comps HDD, I can still access my HDD files and what not.

So vwgti, you hit it right on the nail. Now I have to not only find my windows key, but I have to figure out how to fix it, since I cant even get that far with it, then I have to figure out how to not let it happen again.

So, I guess I will save all my documents from my HDD and reformat it from the other comp, then reinstall windows for the 6th time this year.

Still doesnt solve the IRQL issue from the get go that started it all, which is why I RMA'ed my mobo the first time.
