What's the best Linux to run on the PS3?

I need to be able to run .avi's, .mkv's, divx, hd content, etc. on it..

Yellow Dog is quite popular for PS3, but you should be able to use any Power PC based Linux Distro and install that as well. Yellow Dog was made with the PS3 in mind.

Any version you install should be able to run VLC, which will run the whole gamut of video formats, so it's all personal preference. One of the newest distros built on PowerPC is Fedora 9, so that's worth a shot. Of course, like RodimusPrime mentioned, YDL was built specifically for the PS3, so that's also worth checking out.

Edit: If Sony includes .MKV format support, then you won't need Linux to play any of those files natively.
