Didn't a batch of the e8400 get out with borked sensors?
Might not be anything you can do about it.
IDK for sure.

There was a big batch of E8400's with dead/stuck/miscalibrated sensors.

Mine are 10*C off, I know this because when I do a cold boot after leaving my PC off for a while, all my heatsinked processors read 27*C which is just above my ambient, while my CPU reads 38*C.... on a cold boot? yeah right.

Realtemp seems to provide the most accurate temps

If you are concerned about temps, I suggest running an RMA soon Otherwise, get yourself a TRUE or similar, and forget about heat. These things dont heat up - I have run it up to 4.5ghz on 1.38 volts (5 minute run) and temps BARELY hit 68*C. 4.0ghz gives around 55-57 load
